There are many hypnotic methods used by hypnotists. It simply depends on the hypnotist. I personally like to mix
the simple methods listed below. For example, the
test given on this site uses repetition as the method of attack. Here are a small few of the many methods of hypnosis and a simple explanation
of them.
Repetition
Saying the suggestion or induction over and over, stressing main words.
Light Stress
This isn't what it sounds like. By stress I mean straining a certain part of the body, usually the eyes,
to make a person drowsy easier. This is the method used when a person moves a watch back and forth in front of one's eyes.
The person is focusing on an object higher than their head, and they are instructed only to move their eyes to see the object.
Boredom
This is simply using long inductions, such as counting down from 300, counting 10 seconds in between each number you count down.
This is one of the most effective, but the hypnotist can easily become tired him- or herself.
Easy Listening
During the induction, the hypnotist may have some music playing in the background or a pleasant sound, like the ocean or laid
back type music.
Lighting
One might dim the lights and make the room darker and easier to be seduced into a hypnotic sleep.
